Sites for general information and scholarship search

College Tool Kit: allows students to find and apply for scholarships, search through a database of more than 4,000 colleges, and explore 900 careers all in one location. It is one of the most comprehensive sites for life after high school -- and everything on the site is free for students to use.

FastWEB:  With over 3 million registered users, this site offers the Internet's largest free scholarship search. Users must complete a personal profile, which then produces an individualized scholarship list. FastWeb also functions as a college search and admission site, with plenty of tips and advice.

FinAid: The Financial Aid Information Page:  Free, comprehensive, independent and objective guide to student financial aid. Topics include international, disabled, older, and minority student aid. Provides links to Peterson's CollegeQuest for college searches, and to FastWeb for scholarship information. Other features include a calculator, a parent loan advice page, and news about higher education. FinAid promises never to reveal information about users, and takes an active role in combating scholarship scams.

FreSch: Free Scholarship Search:  FreSch features a database of over 2,000 organizations and foundatations that offer 169,000 awards. Students can register for a "power search" tailored to their individual history and goals, or browse the database without registering. FreSch also includes a page of advice and tips, and a warning against scholarship scams. The site's owner promises never to sell your personal information to others.

Matthew Lesko - Free Government Money, Grants, Cash Business Loans:  Matthew Lesko offers his Free Government Money, Grants and Cash Business Loans Directory for $29.95. Check the site's Links page for many more college grant and student loan sites.
